When I first met the Buddies I couldn’t help but hug them — they are so soft and cuddly! Frosty T. Bear and Poppy Penguin will delight any children who receive them — and I dare say any adults as well. I already have a Frosty T. Bear and 2 Poppy Penguins for my 3 nieces. OK — really one of the Poppy Penguins is for me, and the third niece will get one of new Buddies coming out early next year. And to top it all off — they were designed and made in the USA!!

Anna and Poppy T. PenguinWarren Dent - Grandfather

A short time before Christmas this nice man brought me home and wrapped me up in lovely paper and sent me off to his daughter in Salt Lake City – my new home.  You see I now live with this special little girl named Anna.  She and I are best friends. I think she’s only 6 months old but she loves me up all the time. Sometimes she grabs my pretty colored jacket, other time she puts my paw in her mouth but I’m so healthy she never gets sick from me, and sometimes she just rolls on me.  That is so funny to see as she rolls out of control. Now and then I sneak behind her and she has to try and find me.  So much fun.   What I really love though is when she picks me up and smiles.  Part of my job you see is to make little girls smile.   Other times she makes this little cooing sound.  I know she is talking to me because her eyes just light up and she’ll even kiss me right on my face. She can’t say Poppy yet, but I bet it will be one of her first words.   I’m skinny enough that she can even hold me up when she’s propped sitting up.  I like that a lot because  I don’t want to be like some of her fatter doll friends she can’t hold.  I feel so loved when she gathers me in her little arms and I can give her warmth right back.  Anna has a great Mom too.  Sometimes Anna gets a little dirt on my chest.  Her Mom just washes me off and I am ready to play again.  I’m so grateful to Anna’s grandpa for finding me and sending me to Anna.  She and I are bound to be friends for years.

An update on the books I got for the kids at my clinic. Well, of the 9 books I got a year ago, I only have 1 left and it is extremely well loved! Seven of the others magically disappeared and I suspect they were smuggled home in diaper bags!! Which surprised me because they were all dog-eared and chewed on from being read so many times.
You have the honor of writing/drawing the most frequently stolen book in clinic!
I’ll be placing another order soon!!

I have meet Frosty, Poppy and Susan (the creator and author). And I have hugged all three one at a time. They are all very lovable and huggable. The books are adorable and whimsical. The buddies are charming and soft as a baby’s bottom. Although Frost and Poppy are machine washable, Susan is not. I highly recommend these products. And please don’t tell my six grandchildren what they are getting for Christmas.

Where were these “buddies” when I was a child to take “everywhere” with me? These buddies, oh my goodness, they are comfort and friendship in soft and easy portable form…they are the sweetness of childhood, and they dance well together. What I love best about the stories of the Buddies and the Buddies themselves is how they carry with them the spirit of their “creator” who at ESSENCE is an exuberant, playful, wise and humble. Have a young soul to say I love you to? Here is a forever way.

Frosty T. Bear and the story of Frosty in Pike Place Market have found their way back to North Carolina, to my daughter, son-in-law and GRANDSON, RYAN, for Christmas 2010. Of all the Christmas gifts Grand Mommy and I sent Ryan this year, I think Frosty will become his absolute favorite. I know it is mine. Thank you, Susan, for your creative genius.” December 10, 2010
